Stereolithography

What is it?

Stereolithography is a technique that allows you to realize single 3D objects, starting from digital data processed by a CAD/CAM software. Its main application is rapid prototyping which allows us to test physical objects before industrial production or to prepare models for casting molds or die casting. This process is divided into 4 parts:

 

  1. Preparation of the work station
  2. Build:
    • localization of the laser beam using an optical system;
    • polymerization of liquid epoxy resin: solid particles are obtained;
    • distancing of section using an elevator;
    • movement of the focusing plane: realization of a section;
    • coverage of the section with polymer through a precision system;
    • refocus of the laser and new handling charge of the work station;
  3. Clean
  4. Post-treatment:
    • exposure to Green Part’s UV light : firing of the blank work piece and completion of the polymerization
    • eventual surface finishing (removal of porosity with abrasives or varnishes)

Materials

The stereolithography machine produces parts using epoxy resins. Among these, our company uses the most innovative materials:

  • RGX 2200: aesthetic models, rigid
  • PLX 1500: PP-like
  • TSK 2700: ABS-like - too transparent
  • Nano5000: Loaded ceramic, rigid, resistant to high temperatures
  • Bluestone: resistant to high temperatures
  • Flex70: like rubber, 70 Shore A
